Strength in Numbers
Bobby Jones Links joins Troon family of companies, but will continue as an independent brand.
The Troon family of golf and hospitality brands grew again in early August with the announcement that the company had acquired Bobby Jones Links, an Atlanta, Georgia-based club management company. Founded in 2000 with two clubs, Bobby Jones Links today manages 34 facilities in 13 states.
Under the new agreement, Bobby Jones Links will continue to operate under the Bobby Jones Links brand, but with the support and additional benefits of being part of the Troon family of brands. Co-founders Whitney Crouse and Steve Willy will continue in their roles as CEO and COO, respectively. Troon will provide enhanced resources, expertise, and marketing support, enabling Bobby Jones Links to better serve its clients and expand its impact in the industry. Bobby Jones Links will maintain its Club Support Center in Atlanta. Members and guests of Bobby Jones Links-managed facilities will continue to experience the same outstanding service, course conditions, and food and beverage options.

Preferred Winter Getaways
Getting in a round of winter golf in much of the U.S. is reserved for those who don’t mind frigid temperatures and thick outerwear … unless you have a simulator in your living room or an indoor bay nearby. On the other hand, a winter getaway to someplace warm and toasty may be an even better idea. Here are several Troon destinations we just know you’ll adore this winter, or anytime for that matter.
AK-CHIN SHINES BRIGHT
With one flick of the switch a new chapter in the rich history of Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz., began last April. Night golf arrived at #minDunes, with lights brightening an existing six-hole short course built on the driving range, enabling golfers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy playing shots after dusk, an especially worthy amenity during Arizona’s summer heat.

Aura, history, and magnetic allure can’t be manufactured. They only emerge over time. Three Arizona golf properties authentically glow with that special something — Tubac Golf Resort & Spa, Rancho Mañana Golf Club, and Sedona Golf Resort. Each is owned by the Allred Family. And late in 2024, all three came into the ecosystem of Troon courses.

The 2024 season has proven to be nothing short of transformative for tennis, and for racquet sports as a whole. Another year has come and gone, and the prevailing thought in my mind is that the show simply goes on, no matter what.
Emma Navarro
World No. 46 Emma Navarro faced fellow American Jenna Defalco at the $80,000 Christus Health Pro Challenge in Tyler, Texas. Though the match ended in a brisk 6-2, 6-3 victory for Navarro, no one could have predicted the wave of momentum that would follow the 22-year-old in the months and majors following. In hindsight, October 2023 in Tyler, Texas was just the start of Navarro’s miraculous run into the top 10.

He’s called “Chef Maui Mike,” and with nearly 30 years of culinary experience decorating his past, Chef de Cuisine Michael Lloyd inherited his passion for cooking from his beloved “Auntie” back in his home state of Hawaii. Now, he serves as the inspirational energy behind The Club at ArrowCreek’s vibrant sushi scene.

Phoenix Country Club
Entering through the stylish double doors at Phoenix Country Club, one quickly detects the palpable aura of golf tradition and lore. Vast wood and glass trophy cases display clubs, golf bags, programs, and photos of Hall-of-Fame golfers who have graced these grounds.
Red Ledges
It’s easy to fall in love with Red Ledges on first sight. Visit on a bright summer day with the brilliant blue sky outlining the magnificent profiles of the Wasatch Mountains while striping your tee shot down the fairway on one of the best Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses in the nation, and you’ll never want to leave.
Fountaingrove Club
The views from the expansive dining space in Fountaingrove’s new clubhouse are sublime, indoors and out. Open for less than 18 months, it’s anchored at one end by a colorful bar, backed by a limestone block wall, and fronted by floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that open to a wide, building-long patio. The epitome of “California Casual,” the décor in the Santa Rosa country club’s digs is modern, elegant, and versatile.

The former is why I enjoy watching the World Long Drive Championship, where I once saw a guy using a Happy Gilmore-style walk-up for each drive advance through several rounds.
The latter is proof that we’re all different.
NORTH TO BRORA
I suspect that even among the most intrepid TROON Magazine readers there are few who have felt a burning compulsion to venture as far north as Alaska to test their short game skills perhaps on the little nine-hole golf club on Kodiak Island and dodge the native bears in this sub-Arctic wilderness. I confess I have never felt the urge myself, although I am sure it would be a memorable experience.

Brookside Golf Club
Troon was recently selected to manage Brookside Golf Club, a popular 36-hole municipal facility in Pasadena, California. Indigo Sports, a Troon company, will manage the golf operations, agronomy, retail, food and beverage, and sales and marketing.
Golfzon Scarsdale
Golfzon, the world leader in golf simulator market share, and Troon recently announced the second Golfzon Social location, a state-of-the-art indoor golf entertainment venue, that opened in Scarsdale, N.Y., on Saturday, August 12.
Golfzon Social
Golfzon, the world leader in golf simulator market share, and Troon, the leader in providing golf and club-related leisure and hospitality services, have partnered to launch Golfzon Social, a new, state-of-the-art indoor golf entertainment venue, with the first location having opened in February outside of New York City. A second location in Scarsdale, N.Y., is set to open later in spring of 2023.
